It may sound like an April Fool's joke like Samsung's smart knife-mobile, but it's not. Google has announced a stick, the Chromebit , no bigger than a cigarette, that when connected to any LCD monitor or TV, turns it into a computer.
The new type of Chrome OS computer can connect via HDMI to any screen and costs under 100 dollars. For the creation of Chrοmebit Google partnered with Asus and will be released to the market during the summer. It is roughly like Chromecast, but does many more things besides streaming video from the internet.
Among its technical specifications it has a Rockchip 3288 SoC, 2GB RAM, built-in 16GB storage, USB 2.0 port, WiFi 802.11 ac support, Bluetooth 4.0 and a quad-core ARM Mali 760 GPU. Like the Intel Compute Stick announced in January, all that is needed is to connect it to a display.
As for its battery, Google can't say how long it will last yet as it's still in testing. But we do know that it will be released in silver, blue, and orange, and we expect to learn more information in the summer.
