The Investigative Journalism Competition for young people aged 18-30 has started and will last until March 20,2015.
The competition is organized on the initiative of the young European online media outlet Cafebabel Greece and its implementation was supported by the civic non-profit IT company SciFY, the National Center for Natural Sciences Research Demokritos and the journalistic social network oikomedia.com.
The competition aims to promote investigative journalism in Greece. The objective of the competition is to highlight the best journalistic investigation, which will be selected after a selection made by the competition jury.
Duration of the Competition. The duration of the competition is defined as the period from November 20, 2014, at 1.00 a.m., to March 20, 2015, at 24:00.
Right to Participate in the Competition.
Only individuals aged 18 to 30 (on the date of the competition) are eligible to participate in the competition, regardless of nationality or place of residence. Participants are not required to have a degree in journalism or a related public or private school, nor to be students of journalism or a related public or private school. Individuals within the aforementioned age range are eligible to participate in the competition, regardless of whether they have practiced journalism professionally.
Types of Participations
- Areas of journalistic research:
The competition is open to journalistic investigations in any of the following areas, concerning citizens residing in Greece, for research that relates/refers to events/data that have taken place, are taking place or will take place in the Greek reality and geographical territory. The journalistic investigation should focus on engagement with the public, the public interest, the research and supervision of the work and decisions of the Greek public authorities, the action of civil society, the action of private and public legal entities operating in Greece as well as the impact of all the above actions on society as a whole, on the economy and in general.
Research may concern any of the following areas, either individually or in combination:

- Type of participation:
The competition allows the participation of electronic - online, printed, television, radio, text, multimedia (video and slideshow) journalistic investigations.
The competition prize is a cash prize of two thousand (2,000) euros. At the same time, a software tools competition with a different prize will be announced.
