"Google Lunar X Prize" See the robots that will travel to the moon

Google is in the final stretch to award the " Lunar X Prize " - and the 30 million dollars that come with it - to the scientific team that will succeed in carrying out the mission of the first private robot to the Moon !

Google, as part of the… space race, rewarded the five teams that have made the most progress on their vehicles so far, sharing the sum of 6 million dollars! In total, the competing teams from around the world amount to 34.

The categories in which the award-winning teams Astrobotic and Moon Express from the USA, Hakuto from Japan, Team Indus from India and Part-Time Scientists from Germanywere "Landing", "Flexibility-Motion" and "Imaging".

For the first prize of $20 million, the winning robot, which will travel to the moon in 2016, must travel about 1,500 feet (450 meters) on lunar soil and send back high-definition video as proof of its presence on the moon. For the remaining $10 million, the winning team must take the mission a step further. That is, its rover must travel further at night, detect ice or land near the site of NASA's Apollo missions.
