The website of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been hacked , according to foreign press reports. The attackers, allegedly ISIS supporters, carried out a DoS attack against the company's official website, targeting the Domain Name System ( DNS ).
The message "404-Plane Not Found" greeted website visitors for a few hours, reminding them of the mysterious disappearance of flight MH370 last year.
" ISIS will prevail" was written in the browser tab, while the hackers signed themselves as "Cyber Caliphate".
A short time later the homepage was replaced with an image of a lizard in a tuxedo and the following message: "Hacked by LIZARD SQUAD – OFFICIAL CYBER CALIPHATE."
What the company said
Malaysia Airlines assured its customers that the servers have not been affected and that their data is safe. However, the airline's ticket reservation service, as well as other services, were not available for several hours.
«At the current moment the web servers of Malaysia Airlines are intact», the company said via its official Facebook page. «The airline has resolved the issue with the provider of online services and the system is expected to be fully restored within 22 hours», it added, reassuring users.
