latest High-End Storage Arrays 's Gartner says HDS is ranked first with the VSP while Fujitsu scores well with OLTP.
The report ranks several high-end storage arrays for a variety of use cases and then provides an overall ranking, as shown in the related overall ranking diagram:
The top scorers are HDS ' G1000 VSP array and HP 's XP7 . HP says it got the technology from Hitachi's HDS parent.
Third in the rankings is HP 's high-end 3PAR StoreServe 10000 , which relegates EMC 's VMAX to fourth place. That should bring a smile to HP storage chief David Scott – and a thought to his EMC counterpart, Guy Churchward.
The NetApp FAS8000 is in fifth place in the ranking, while Fujitsu 's ETERNUS DX8700 S2 is ahead of IBM 's DS8870 , demonstrating remarkable performance from Fujitsu.
Next up is the HDS HUS VM series , followed by Huawei's OceanStor 18000 and IBM 's XIV .
In position 11 is Oracle 's recent FS1-2 followed by DataDirect Networks ' SFA12K .
The overall ranking does not change much across the various scenarios for individual use, with HDS / HP dominating. In this ranking Gartner places Fujitsu high in the ranking, surpassing NetApp, EMC and HP:
HDS, HP and Fujitsu did well. The results for EMC and NetApp are as expected, while for IBM they were not so positive, especially considering that Oracle's FS1-2 is not far behind the XIV array.
