Okay, it may not be one of the familiar American horror stories we see on television, but it is just as terrifying for those who experience such situations.
- An investment and financial services company, one of the largest in the world, discovered a connection to its network from Russian territory.
- Customers of a major network security in the U.S. discovered some incidents today, Halloween, that actually scared them.
- A large telecommunications company received a message originating from China saying that they had to shut down incoming connections to their network for an entire day.
- A healthcare company suddenly found itself with a network three times its size and an open connection with an IP originating from Beijing.
Other companies found connections in their networks, originating from Eastern Europe, which they had of course not approved.
All these events show that a first step has been taken towards securing the networks of large companies and for connections that should not have access to these networks.
They were discovered thanks to the timely intervention of network security companies and the scanning of networks for unauthorized connections.
So just as we watch out for Jason, Freddy , and Chucky, we must also watch out for the security of our network.
