Federal authorities recently located and searched the home of a suspected whistleblower, aka Edward Snowden, who leaked documents containing sensitive surveillance data to journalists, according to Yahoo News.
Specifically, the suspect is alleged to be the source of leaked documents related to the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE) , a database containing names of terrorism suspects, first published by the website The Intercept in August 2014. He may also have leaked the National Security Agency's (NSA) Tailored Access Operations list to the German magazine Der Spiegel in December 2013
Yahoo News, citing anonymous sources, reported that Justice Department officials “may now be more reluctant to pursue criminal prosecutions involving unauthorized disclosures to the press,” possibly referring to the resulting backlash against prosecutors who prosecuted Bradley Manning and the case of journalist James Risen, who could face prison time for failing to disclose a source of information.
In Laura Poitras' upcoming film " Citizenfour, " which is about Snowden , the whistleblower reveals to journalist Glenn Greenwald about the existence of a second "source" of leaked classified information.
