The IEEE Student Chapter at the National Technical University of Athens invites developers to the “Apps4Med” event, organized for the first time by the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) and Computer Society (CS) scientific communities.
These are practical courses (workshops) on the development of applications for Windows Phone and Android, with speeches by researchers and representatives of companies that are particularly involved in the development of mobile health (m-health) applications. As part of Apps4Med, an m-health application development competition will be held by students and young developers. The aim of the event is to inform, motivate and familiarize students with application development, but also to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship.
- The event will kick off on Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th with introductory workshops by experienced developers in developing applications on Windows Phone and Android.
- On Thursday, October 30, a conference on “Mobile Applications”, where the latest developments in the field of m-health will be presented by representatives of the academic world and innovative applications from companies and startups. The conference will have a dual objective. On the one hand, it will bring young developers into contact with research and business groups, and on the other hand, it will act as a source of ideas for the applications that will be developed in the competition.
- The event will culminate on Saturday, November 1, where participants, organized into teams, will be invited to develop within 24 hours (9:00 a.m. Saturday to 9:00 a.m. Sunday) an innovative and useful application on the platform of their choice (Windows Phone or Android), focused on the health sector.
- The best teams, as selected by a jury, will have the opportunity to present their applications on Tuesday, November 4, at a special event that will be held as part of the Satellite Event of the MobiHealth 2014. The winning team will be awarded at the same event, and will have the opportunity to develop their business idea through the provision of consulting services (coaching).
