YouTube launches a new service that allows users to store specific videos on their devices. Caesar Sengupta, Product Management Director of Google, said at an event that took place in India:
“To YouTube is very popular here. You watch Video again and again. Wouldn’t it be amazing … to be able to get them with you everywhere? From the next weeks you will be able to download video to your phone, once, and watch them again and again…”
This service will not only concern Music Videos but specific videos from all categories and will be free. Youtube in India is particularly popular and comes 4th in a row, after the websites Google.com, Google.co.in and Facebook.com.
At this time it is not clear how YouTube intends to make money from this service, since offline videos do not contain ads. The new service will be available for now, only in India
The Music Key service is coming
YouTube 's new service will allow smartphone users to listen to their favorite music while using another application. The service will not only offer access to artist albums, but also to concerts, remixes and other content that one does not find on similar services. YouTube will offer a Trial of the service for 30 days, while for the rest of the period there will be a monthly charge of $9.99 (€7.72).
