More than a billion websites on the Internet

The number of sites on the Internet has surpassed one billion and continues to grow, according to data from Internet Live Stats.

The World Wide Web, which now hosts more than one billion websites, completed 25 years of development last April, and the issue of the exhaustion of the electronic addresses in use, mainly .com and .net, is being raised.

The cornerstone of the development of the Web and the "explosion" in the number of web pages was the research work of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the so-called "father" of the Internet.
