Another case of child pornography via the Internet was investigated by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate
A 45-year-old Greek national was arrested for possessing numerous files of child pornography, which he intended to share with other internet users
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate arrested yesterday (10.09.2014), within the framework of the ongoing investigation, a 45-year-old Greek national, against whom a case was filed for child pornography via the internet.
In the context of a targeted online investigation, carried out recently by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, in various file sharing networks-programs, with the aim of finding users who possessed and had child pornography material available for sharing, the electronic traces of the 45-year-old Greek national were identified.
The competent prosecution authorities were informed of the case, which issued a warrant to lift the confidentiality of communications and, in collaboration with the internet service company, obtained the details of the arrested person.
During a search carried out at the 45-year-old's home in Kos, in the presence of a Public Prosecutor, a laptop computer and two external computer hard drives were found and seized. The on-site search of the seized electronic storage media revealed a large number of child pornography files (videos), for which the immediate procedure was applied.
The seized evidence will be sent to forensic laboratories for further examination.
The arrested person, with the case file filed against him, was taken to the competent Prosecution Authorities.
