The National Security Authority (NSM) has identified a number of cyber attacks against energy and oil in Norway, resulting in the issuance of a warning about attempts to steal information.

The organization, which is a professional and supervisory authority within protective security services in Norway, says they have recently discovered over 50 attempted breaches.

Therefore, recommendations have been sent to companiesto impose security measures to prevent impending attacks.

According to NSM, the attackers are sending emails with infected attachments in order to gain unauthorized access to the company's computer and data. The recommendations have been sent to 300 organizations.

The organization's purpose is to raise awareness and control business systems. It is recommended to apply recent updates to the operating systems they have installed, as well as to limit elevated privileges to administrators.

The authority also states that strong passwords should be used in conjunction with a two-factor authentication mechanism. Enabling system activity logging is another way to prevent and detect suspicious actions.

As for employees, checking the legitimacy of email senders is one of the best practices they should adopt.
