Εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα σε ΑΕΙ, ΤΕΙ

email_scam--2-thumb-largeWithout a specific proposal on how the risk of “splintering” of regional universities and TEIs due to the free transfers that will apply from the next academic year will be addressed, the Minister of Education A. Loverdos appeared yesterday before the Parliamentary Committee on Educational Affairs. He referred to the possibility that the institution of distance teaching be applied to some universities and TEIs.

The session's main topic was student transfers, and the concern concerned the risk of «desertification» of some departments due to a possible high demand for transfers to large urban centers.

«A solution that could possibly be implemented starting this year in some TEIs and universities is for certain of these students to apply the institution of distance learning», said Mr. Loverdos and continued: «The idea was presented for the TEI of Kavala, an institutional idea that generally concerns distance teaching. Not, of course, the conversion of the TEI into a distance teaching institution, but additionally for a part of the courses to provide the possibility of being attended remotely. It is a solution for those who can, and I was speaking with the vice president of the TEI of Athens, Mr. Lytra, who assured me that his department and some other departments can proceed with this solution. It is an idea».

With the remarks of MPs as a pretext, Mr. Loverdos noted that «the issue of transcriptions was full of corruption and collusion», to add that «even in cases of the disabled there was corruption».

The Minister of Education also referred to his intention to submit two bills. The first, as he said, «relates to the informal council of former Ministers of Education» and will be accompanied by amendments for the merit-based pay of teachers who will be transferred to mountainous areas or to the island Greece (the regulation provokes sharp reactions from the DOE and the OLME), for the religious instruction of Thrace, as well as for the repeal of the law that allows some universities not to admit students due to disability. The second draft law concerns the acquisition of legal personality by religious communities.
