Microsoft's virtual assistant, Cortana , is able to predict the results of the World Cup matches ! As you know, it has become fashionable, at every major football tournament, for various animals to try to predict the results of the matches. This craze started from the last World Cup in South Africa, where Paul , a lovable... octopus predicted the results of the matches with characteristic accuracy.
Although the beloved octopus left us a few months ago, a hamster and an elephant took its place at the World Cup in Brazil! But in addition to the members of the animal kingdom that are supposed to be able to see into the future, there is the most… high-tech “scientific” solution from Cortana. According to Microsoft officials, the well-known virtual assistant managed to successfully predict four results (the victories of Brazil, Colombia, the Netherlands and – unfortunately – the victory of Costa Rica over the Greek National Team)! In addition, Cortana continues the predictions, specifically stating that France and Germany are definitely going to pass in the next round . Cortana’s predictions are of course not made by chance, as Microsoft programmers use complex algorithms and mathematical models , which calculate a series of parameters such as win/loss records, player performance, weather conditions and many other combined factors.
These predictions are part of the development of the Bing prediction engine, through which developers have previously managed to find the outcome of famous television shows, such as the final winner of The Voice or Dancing with the Stars.
