Popular music service Spotify announced that it had suffered a data breach and warned users of its Android app to upgrade.
The company announced that a hacker allegedly breached the system and gained unauthorized access to the company's data. So far, the company believes that no financial information or user login details have been affected.
The company took the issue very seriously and immediately launched an investigation. But it doesn't believe users have been exposed to any lingering risk following the breach.
In its statement, Spotify has not provided any details about how the attackers managed to compromise the database, but the recommendation for the Android app suggests that its users may have been put at high risk, as there is a chance that the data breach was caused by a vulnerability in the app. Spotify said, "no action is recommended for iOS and Windows Phone users" at this time.
