Despite disappointing recent iPad sales figures , Apple remains the number one tablet brand among a broad audience. Even though Apple's competitors, Samsung in particular, have been closing the gap recently, the gap in shipments of new Apple devices (the company has sold more than 200 million iPads since its launch in June 2010) is still very large.
Data recently released by online advertising network Chitika shows how Apple still leads the tablet market. Chitika tracks tablet usage based on the company’s ad impressions across devices. In April 2014, iPads accounted for 77% of tablets using the web in North America, surpassing Samsung and Amazon’s devices, which had 8% and 6% respectively.
