Microsoft, as part of the regular Patch Tuesday, released eight security bulletins concerning 13 different vulnerabilities that were found in Microsoft software and successfully patched. Among these vulnerabilities are two critical security holes in Internet Explorer that were reported privately.
All versions of Microsoft have received patches, so those using Windows and Internet Explorer should install the updates as soon as possible.
“The most critical vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. Any attacker who successfully exploits the most severe of these vulnerabilities would gain the same privileges as the current user. Users using an account with limited privileges are less affected than users logged on with administrator privileges,” Microsoft says.
“This updated security release has been classified as critical for versions 6,7,8,9,10 and 11 of Internet Explorer for Windows Clients, and as moderate for Windows Servers.”
As with all updates for Internet Explorer, this one will be made available to users via Windows Update.
