In a report documenting the activities of the Iranian security group Ajax, FireEye claims that hacker groups from Iran are carrying out increasingly sophisticated attacks, perhaps following the evolution of Chinese hacking to become a superpower.
While FireEye stops short of making connections between the hackers and the Iranian government, the report notes that “the groups’ goals are consistent with Iran to control political dissent and expand its offensive cyber capabilities.”
