The missed call scam

The latest fashion in the field of electronic deception!

How many times have we missed a call from an unknown number and immediately called back to find out what it was about?

Well, this communication habit needs to be stopped immediately as it could cost us dearly!

So the next time you see a missed call on your mobile screen, think twice about calling back, as scammers are lurking, now making a living at the expense of our pockets.

The scam is simple: the suspicious call calls our number only once and automatically hangs up (there are even software that doesn't even make the call ring). This one call is enough for the missed call notification to appear on the smartphone screen and of course we don't have time to answer it.

So we call back and charge the cuckoo nightingale for every minute they manage to keep us in touch.

ssssdclldwqq1The unanswered call scam, which is now a global phenomenon, is based precisely on our communication culture. And we explain: today, with SMS and emails being the cornerstone of communication, if someone calls us on the phone, it is likely about something urgent or important (or, at least, confidential).

And because we absolutely don't want to miss that great call that will change our lives, whether it's a business meeting, a job interview, or finally the hot girl we met last night at the bar, we automatically call the unknown number back lest this one-of-a-kind opportunity disappear.

ssssdclldwqq3And there's another wrinkle to the scam: the number looks familiar! It looks like it's from the same country as the victim, despite the fact that the calls always come from abroad.

So now you know: don't call back a number if you don't recognize it. That's why voicemails exist, so we know who called us. And if you want to be sure, search the number on Google!

ssssdclldwqq4And finally, if your smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, it has a built-in caller ID system, which will immediately reveal online scammers..
