The lightest interchangeable lens camera with Wi-Fi connectivity

sony-kamera-enallaksimon-fakon-a5000Sony has introduced the α5000, which is the lightest interchangeable lens camera that also incorporates the ability to access Wi-Fi networks.

In addition to its low weight of just 227 grams, the α5000, which was presented during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, also has a full package of features, disproportionate to its size.

In more detail, the α5000 incorporates a 20.1 Megapixel APS-C sensor and a new generation BIONZ X processor, the same one found in the top-of-the-line Sony α7 and α7R, elements that ensure high-quality images and Full HD quality video, in any shooting conditions.

The BIONZ X processor uses advanced technologies to achieve the highest possible noise reduction and color rendition, and it also enables high-sensitivity shooting up to ISO16000 for quality images even in low light.

Also available via NFC is Smart Remote Control, which allows the a5000 to be controlled remotely from another connected device. For devices without NFC, Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile app is available for iOS and Android platforms.

The new camera is compatible with the E-mount interchangeable lenses, including the new SEL55210 (E55-210mm, F4.5-6.3 OSS) lens. In total, 22 different lenses from the E-mount, Carl Zeiss and G Series are available for the α5000. The Sony α5000 will be available from March 2014.
