Grand Theft Auto VI is officially available for pre-order and is undoubtedly the most anticipated gaming event of the decade. Rockstar Games has announced that GTA VI will be released on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, with pre-loads starting on November 12, 2026 — several days early so you can have the game ready from the start.

The game is available in two versions: the Standard Edition for $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition for $99.99. Both versions come with the same preorder bonuses, while the Ultimate Edition offers significant additional content not available elsewhere. It is worth noting that GTA VI follows a digital-first strategy: even the physical boxes contain an activation code rather than a disc — a first for third-party publishers other than Nintendo.

Whichever edition you choose, pre-ordering GTA VI will get you the Vintage Vice City Pack at launch. It's a set of in-game items that reference the classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City , including vehicles, weapon skins, and hairstyles. Plus, if you pre-order digitally , you'll get a free month of GTA Plus — GTA V Online 's subscription service that normally costs $7.99 per month and provides in-game perks as well as access to classic Rockstar games .
The Standard Edition is available digitally from the PlayStation Store and Xbox, as well as as a boxed code from Rockstar and major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart , and Best Buy. The Ultimate Edition is available exclusively digitally via PlayStation or Xbox and includes expanded content not otherwise accessible in the game.
Specifically, the Ultimate Edition includes: the '95 Grotti Cheetah car , Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers , customized weapon variants, the Vice City Style look, Jason's Safehouse vehicles , the Ganado Retro Build Modkit , the Rideout Customs garage , Sara's Unisex Salon , the Shitzu Squalo boat , the Stock 305 clothing store , the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with garage, the Electric Fang Tattoo , the One-Eyed Willie's garage , the Goodtime Gear look , the PTT Youngin$ Illegal Good Store , and a special-order Classic Car Collection .

GTA VI and the revolution in game distribution
GTA VI is not just a game — it is a milestone for the entire industry. GTA V (2013) sold over 200 million copies and remains one of the most commercially successful entertainment products in history. After more than a decade, Rockstar Games returns with a title that has already broken records: in just 24 hours since the start of pre-orders, orders exceeded the average of major franchises such as Call of Duty or FC (formerly FIFA) by six times
The choice of a digital-first strategy is not accidental. The decision not to have physical discs at launch is intended to prevent premature leaks from retail stores or production plants. Physical discs are expected to be released in December 2026, about a month after launch. This practice may become a model for other publishers in the future.
GTA VI will also be released for PC in 4K on November 19, 2026 , while PS5 Pro enhancement has been confirmed with improved image quality, better performance, and higher frame rates via Sony 's PSSR technology . There is also speculation that GTA Online may not launch at the same time as the main game, suggesting an initial single-player-only experience.

Overall, GTA VI is expected to reshape the standards of the gaming industry, which is estimated to exceed $250 billion worldwide in 2026. If you plan to preorder, the digital market is the most direct option, while if you prefer a physical box, you will have to wait until December for the disc or settle for the activation code from now on.
