After the great success of blocking The Pirate Bay in many countries over the last two years, record companies are also preparing to block KickassTorrents, the second most popular site of its kind in the entire world.

Sony, Universal and Warner Music, some of the companies that called for the Pirate Bay to be blocked earlier this year, have announced their intention to go to the High Court and demand that Ireland's largest internet service providers – Vodafone, UPC, O2, Digiweb and Hutchinson 3D – block access to KickassTorrents.

While UPC is known to be one of the main fighters against blocking requests, the company admits that it has legal documents.

The other companies, however, do not share the same view and many have stated that they are likely to agree to block the popular torrent site, even without a court order.

KickassTorrents has taken other hits, and one of them targeted its homepage, via a DMCA notice, which Google more or less ignored, but the site itself has already been blocked in several countries, including the UK .
