Last July, the famous torrent website Kickass Torrents suddenly stopped operating after the arrest of its alleged founder Artem Vaulin. But it seems that all is not lost…
A group of dedicated former staff members of the website have begun a reincarnation of the infamous torrent tracker in the hopes of bringing it back to its former glory.
The new Kickass Torrents has gone live and promises to be fully functional. The website looks identical to its predecessor, but starts with a clean database of users.
The good news, though, is that many of the original staff members are already back and tirelessly uploading the content that made her famous.
“All the big uploaders are back and sharing tirelessly, even before the torrent engines have even started. The torrent community will see additions from all the names they know and trust,” said the KATcr team.
It should be mentioned that after the initial closure of the famous website, a bunch of mirror sites, but they didn't last long.
In addition to mirrors that were only intended to distribute content (let's not forget the ads), there were also some malicious ones that tried to steal personal information or even credit card credentials from novice hackers. The team behind the new website says about the issue:
“To keep our members safe we chose to rebuild and keep only the safe elements. Although it took us longer to rebuild, the safety of our community comes first.”
