Google appears to be taking some action on a potential vulnerability in Chrome, albeit a minor one. The Chrome password manager allows you to view saved passwords in plain text.
This is a useful feature if you need to check what the password is for a site, and it is very secure, as long as no random people are using your computer.
However, some users were concerned with the idea that anyone with access to their computer, whether it's a loved one, a family member, or a colleague, could discover the passwords to many of their online services with just a few clicks.
When the issue was revealed last summer, some users reacted angrily, but Google defended the feature by saying that anyone with access to your computer could already do, pretty much, whatever they wanted, like access your passwords.
Now, however, Google appears to be taking action on the issue, as it has added a new experimental "flag" to the Mac version of Chrome that, when enabled, requires users to verify their identity using their Mac OS X password before being allowed to view their passwords.
