macOS 27 is several months away from its release, but there are already several rumors circulating about the upcoming software upgrade.
The first beta of macOS 27 is expected to be available to developers during WWDC 2026 in June. The public beta will follow in July. After testing, the update should be released to all users in September.
macOS 26 is known as macOS Tahoe, but the name of macOS 27 has not been leaked yet.

macOS 27: All the rumors circulating
Siri upgrades
macOS 27 is expected to include a full-fledged Siri chatbot that you can have conversations. So, it is believed that Siri will be more similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. Due to delays, macOS 27 may also include some of the personalized Siri features that Apple had shown off at WWDC 2024.
For example, Apple showed a user asking Siri about their mother's flight and meal reservations, based on information retrieved from the Mail and Messages apps. This functionality was first introduced on an iPhone, but will be expanded to iPad and Mac.
More Apple Intelligence Features
Last month, Apple and Google announced that Google Gemini will help power future Apple Intelligence features, and that will extend beyond a more personalized version of Siri. However, we're waiting to see exactly what features will arrive.

Touch Interface
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported this week that Apple is preparing a touch-optimized version of macOSfor the rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro.
For example, if a user touches a button or control on the screen, a related set of commands will immediately appear in a menu around their finger. And if a user taps on an item in the menu bar at the top of the screen, the controls will be enlarged so that they are easier to select with a finger (according to the screen).
Gurman expects the touchscreen MacBook Pro to launch in late 2026, so these touch optimizations will likely arrive in macOS 27. However, the changes may remain hidden until the touchscreen MacBook Pro is released.

Improved Stability
macOS 27 is expected to be similar to Mac OS X Snow Leopard , in the sense that Apple is reportedly focusing heavily on improving "quality and underlying performance." Apple is expected to implement a lot of bug fixes and stability improvements, and there may also be some long-awaited improvements to the Liquid Glass.
No Intel Macs
Last year, Apple announced that macOS Tahoe would be the last major macOS release for Macs with Intel processors, meaning macOS 27 would only be compatible with Macs with Apple silicon M1 processors and newer. However, Apple will likely continue to release security patches for some Intel-based Macs for at least a few more years.
