Apple Music is now available as an extension within ChatGPT, allowing users to search for songs, create playlists , and discover new music through OpenAI's chatbot.
What users can do with Apple Music on ChatGPT
ChatGPT’s integration with Apple Music could change the way users discover new music by allowing them to describe what they’re looking for in natural language. Instead of typing in specific search terms, as is common with Apple Music, they can ask the chatbot more generally, such as: “happy 80s songs for traveling” or “calm orchestral music for studying.” ChatGPT will understand the context and mood the user is seeking.

You can also combine multiple criteria, such as “jazz fusion songs under five minutes with heavy saxophone.” ChatGPT will find exactly what you are looking for in ways that standard keyword searches cannot.
Users can also request custom playlists based on specific criteria, request song suggestions , or explore music by decade, genre, or artist. And once ChatGPT creates a playlist, it’s possible to view each track and save the list directly to your library in Apple Music (“Create Playlist in Apple Music”). It’s also possible to save individual tracks using the + buttons.
The Apple Music extension requires a ChatGPT account and works with both the free and paid tiers of ChatGPT. You don't need an Apple Music subscription to browse the catalog, create playlists, or listen to 30-second previews. But you will need an active subscription if you want to save content to your library.

How Apple Music connects to ChatGPT
1. Open the ChatGPT and click on the profile in the sidebar.
2. In the “Account” settings, tap Apps.
3. Click Browse Apps and select Apple Music in the extension library.
4. Tap Connect and select Connect Apple Music.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign in to your Apple account and allow the access request.
If you’re on a desktop computer, you can follow the same steps in the ChatGPT app for Mac. Alternatively, go to https://chatgpt.com/apps in a browser and open the Apps section in ChatGPT – you’ll find the Apple Music extension there. Once connected, the extension remains active on all your devices that are signed into the same ChatGPT account.

ChatGPT can search the Apple Music catalog and create playlists, but it cannot access listening history or existing playlists. The integration only has permission to add songs to your library, so your personal data remains private.
