Adobe is giving ChatGPT users new ways to design and edit their work without having to switch apps. New apps for Photoshop, Acrobat and Adobe Express are launching today directly in ChatGPT , allowing users to create designs or customize photos and PDFs by describing what they want.

Adobe apps are offered for free and can be activated by typing the app name along with an uploaded file and an instruction, such as “Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image.” ChatGPT users will not need to mention the app name again during the same chat to make additional changes.

Depending on the instructions, Adobe applications may offer a range of effects to choose from. They may also provide an interface element that the user can manually control, such as Photoshop sliders for adjusting contrast and brightness.
ChatGPT applications do not provide the full functionality of Adobe desktop software.
- The Photoshop can edit specific parts of images, apply creative effects, and adjust image settings such as brightness, contrast, and exposure.
- Acrobat in ChatGPT can edit existing PDFs , compress and convert other documents to PDF format, extract text or tables, and merge multiple files together .
- The Adobe Express allows ChatGPT users to create and edit designs, such as posters, invitations, and social media graphics.

All editing can be done without leaving ChatGPT, from replacing text or images to changing colors and animating specific sections.

If ChatGPT users want more granular control over a project they started in the chatbot, those photos, PDFs, and drawings can be opened directly in native Adobe applications to continue where they left off.
Adobe applications in ChatGPT: Availability
Adobe’s ChatGPT apps are available globally on desktop, web, and iOS . The Adobe Express ChatGPT app can also be used on Android devices , with Android support for Photoshop and Acrobat “coming soon.”

This follows the release of other app integrations for ChatGPT. In October, an app for design platform Canva, a competitor to Express, was integrated. OpenAI had started testing promotions for these integrated apps (in chats), but disabled the feature last week after complaints that the messages felt like ads.
Integrating Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps directly into ChatGPT could help both services face competition from Gemini AI Google’s, which introduced its own image-editing capabilities in May. This is also the latest step in Adobe’s plan to release agentic AI solutions that enable creative apps to be used in a more conversational way.
