Apple unveiled four new iPhones this week at its "It's Glowtime". Immediately afterward, as is often the case with new announcements, the company retired several older iPhone models.
On Monday, Apple introduced the new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, expanding its lineup that already includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and the third-generation SE. To make room for the latest models, Apple stopped selling the iPhone 13, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The discontinued iPhone models will remain available through third-party retailers for some time and, in some cases, may be sold at significant discounts . While Apple no longer offers these phones for purchase, they will continue to receive iOS security updates for quite some time. For example, Apple 's upcoming iOS 18 update will support iPhones released since 2018, including the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR .
Before you decide to buy an older phone, it's important to know that support for Apple Intelligence is limited to the iPhone 16 series, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Unfortunately, it won't work on older iPhone models. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have larger screens.
The iPhone 16 series will be available for purchase starting Friday, September 13, with the first orders shipping a week later, on September 20. These phones offer a host of new features, including brand new chips, Camera Control, new colors, and more. Camera improvements will be available on all four models.

In addition to the new iPhones, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 10 and AirPods 4, as well as some minor improvements to the Apple Ultra 2, AirPods Max, and AirPods Pro 2.
