After reports in X that Google search results for Donald Trump were showing Vice President Kamala Harris, billionaire Elon Musk responded by reposting posts with unverified screenshots and commenting "Wow."

In response, several users noticed discrepancies in their own search results. They pointed out that Google can offer personalized results that are influenced by a variety of factors.
"I just tried it... This is not true... BUT I'm in Europe right now," said one user.
“X is built like an inverted pyramid of MAGA (Make America Great Again) propaganda, where Elon is a pharaoh and people can share his worldview and he will promote them and reward them with ad-rev share and/or subscriptions or traffic—but only because “there is a left-wing media conspiracy to control information,” wrote another user.

"Elon Musk, did you ever think that Kamala Harris might be much more popular than the old thug and weirdo Trump?" another commenter asked.

Google's support page explains that search results may vary due to factors like time, context, or personalized results, even though they may appear similar to others' results.
A report by the Media Research Center, a conservative media watchdog, claimed in March 2024 that Google had interfered in elections 41 times over the past 16 years. Google denied the allegations, saying it has a “clear business incentive” to remain impartial and ensure accurate search results.
