Hoya Corporation , one of the world's largest optical product manufacturers, announced that a " failure system" caused servers to go down at some manufacturing plants and business divisions. The problem is said to have been caused by an attempted cyberattack on Hoya .

“ The day before yesterday, we learned that the Group’s headquarters and several of its business units experienced an IT problem ,” Hoya said on Monday. “ At this time, we do not have a full timeline for system recovery, but our priority is to restore our systems as quickly as possible so that we can continue to provide our customers with the highest level of service ,” the company said.

Hoya responded to the incident by isolating the servers affected unauthorized access to their servers.
Impacts on orders and production
The cyberattack and outage affected some of manufacturing and ordering system, causing problems in fulfilling customer orders. This could lead to a loss of customer confidence and a decline in sales.

Hoya is currently investigating whether the hackers accessed or stole confidential or personal data stored on the compromised systems.

“We will continue to investigate and analyze the impact of this incident in cooperation with external experts and the relevant authorities. We will take measures to restore the systems necessary for production and sales activities and to restart the product supply system to customers,” Hoya said.
