Possible Apple & Google collaboration to create artificial intelligence in iPhones

The cooperation between the Apple and the Google about integrating artificial intelligence into iPhones is now possible.

We were aware, via a friendly offer from Bloomberg, that Apple and Google are considering integrating the AI model Gemini Google on iPhone. According to Mark Gurman, Apple would license Google's use of the Gemini model and the Gemini would potentially work "on-device" rather than requiring an Internet connection to operate.

Now, the New York Times is reporting on the discussions between Apple and Google, citing people who claim to have knowledge of the discussions.

The articles highlight Apple's effort to strengthen its presence in the artificial intelligence, as it tries to regain lost ground from its competitors. Microsoft has invested in OpenAI and uses this partnership for its Copilot service. Google's Gemini took longer than Google's ChatGPT of OpenAI and encountered problems, but is on the upswing for integration across all Google products. Samsung is fully committed to AI, integrating it into the new Galaxy S24 phones with the interactive Galaxy Ai feature.

At its annual shareholder meeting last month, Apple's CEO Tim Cook revealed that the company is preparing to announce its vision for artificial intelligence in the future, although it did not specify when or how this will happen.

There are expectations that the upcoming upgrade in iOS 18 will take significant advantage of artificial intelligence to introduce new features to iPhone. We expect to see a preview of iOS 18 at Apple's WWDC 2024 (annual developer conference), which will likely take place in June.

Last month, when Apple supposedly abandoned the Apple Car project, executives informed at least some of those involved that they would be transferred to Apple's now-critical AI production project, according to reports at the time. This was a signal that Apple, which invested billions in the apple car, recognised greater value in AI for the future, rather than something with reduced costs.

Right now, though, information suggest that Apple may be lagging behind more than it is willing to admit and needs the support of other AI platforms to stay ahead of the curve - or face the risk of being left behind forever.

There are still prospects for Apple to benefit from a potential deal with Google. With over 2 billion devices in use worldwide, Google would stand to gain from access to these users. Moreover, with Google's Gemini model costing 20 $ per month, the deal could be a financial benefit for the search giant.

Since Apple provides Accessed at to its users, it is likely to seek to secure some benefit. There is reportedly a negotiation between Apple and Google, with Apple receiving a percentage of the revenue that Google generates.

It's a standard that both Apple and Google should consider appropriate - the two companies have been working together since Traffic of iPhone in 2007. Every time iOS users ask questions in the default Google search engine on their iPhone, they're asking questions in the default Google search engine. Safari for mobile, Apple is limiting itself. A deal that leverages genetic AI could work the same way.Of course, neither Apple nor Google are commenting on their future plans, but if anything is certain, now more than ever it looks like they want to collaborate on AI for iOS.
