The French Prime Minister's office reported that since Sunday evening, cyberattacks have been targeting French government agencies .

No details were given about the attacks, but the French services were likely hit by DDoS. A DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack is a form of cyberattack that aims to disrupt the services of a system or website, making it inaccessible to users. In essence, this attack causes an overload of the system's resources, making it unable to respond to user requests. Attackers in a DDoS attack typically use a network, known as a botnet, made up of many computers. The attacker uses these computers to send a large volume of requests to the system they wish to “hit”.

According to government experts, the attacks were not sophisticated although they were intense.
“ Many French state agencies have been hit by cyberattacks of enormous intensity ,” Prime Minister Gabriel Attal ’s office announced yesterday. However, he stressed that the government had been able to limit the impact. “ Many ministerial departments were targeted using familiar technical means, but with unprecedented intensity ,” Attal’s office said, without giving further details about the targets.
The prime minister's office confirmed that the French government is taking protective. Staff confirmed that the impact of these attacks has been reduced for most government departments and access to government websites has been restored.

At present, the French government has not attributed the attacks to a specific group, but Russia is known to carry out such attacks on countries that support Ukraine.
Attacks of this nature increase the need for more sophisticated cybersecurity measures. Government organizations and businesses must invest more in protecting their network systems and data.
The attacks also demonstrate the increasing ability of attackers to bypass security measures.
