Google and Indonesia's National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) , along with non-profit organizations and social enterprises, are working together to increase cybersecurity in Indonesia .
Initiatives include providing cyber training programs and artificial intelligence-powered cybersecurity tools to protect government organizations, businesses, and citizens from cybercrime.

In collaboration with the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) and the AI Industry Research and Innovation Collaboration, Google will promote discussions among experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders on the safe and responsible use of AI in Indonesia through the AI Policy and Skills Lab.
“ Hackers only need one successful intrusion, while defenders face enormous pressure to deploy their best defenses at all times in an increasingly complex digital environment. This situation is known as the Defender's Dilemma, and we believe that developments in AI can reverse this dynamic,” said Putri Alam, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy, Google Indonesia.
“Implementing cybersecurity tools that use AI, combined with the skills required to use them, can reduce the cost of cybercrime for businesses and individuals in Indonesia. There is a potential to reduce costs by up to IDR 1.365 trillion by 2030.”
Google is providing 1,000 cybersecurity certification scholarships to BSSN officials. This allows government officials without prior experience to focus on cybersecurity roles.
There will be increased collaboration between Mandiant’s cybersecurity teams and BSSN to share information on key threats.
Finally, BSSN and Google Cloud will collaborate on capacity building, which includes developing next-generation cloud-using artificial intelligence (AI) to rapidly detect and protect against cyberattacks on critical national infrastructure.
“The collaboration between the government and Google, along with the utilization of artificial intelligence, will help to maximize the strength of our defenders, while limiting the use of technology by our adversaries,” said Inspector General of Police Dono Indarto, deputy for cyber and crypto strategy and policy, according to BSSN.

For small and medium-sized and social enterprises, training in the field of cybersecurity is provided, aiming to utilize tools based on artificial intelligence to protect against cyberattacks.
This effort is supported by Google's "philanthropic arm," The Asia Foundation, in partnership with the Association of Women's Resource Development Centres (PPSW), the Association for Advancement of Small Business (PUPUK), and the Muhammadiyah Economic and Entrepreneurship Council in Indonesia.
The availability of resources that enabled this effort came from the allocation of US$15 million in support of the Asia Foundation towards the formation of the APAC Cybersecurity Fund, in partnership with the CyberPeace Institute and the Global Cyber Alliance.
