YouTube Create, Google's free smartphone app for YouTube creators, helping them produce both Shorts and longer videos, is expanding to a wider range of markets after launching in beta last fall.

The app was initially available on Android devices in the US. With this move, Create will now be offered in a total of 21 countries.

The idea behind Create is to offer video creators a set of free tools that are easy to use to make videos on the go. It was announced at the Create event of YouTube last September, the tool that aims to address specific challenges faced by creators, including video editing and the use of creative tools such as stickers, GIFs and effects.

The app also targets TikTok, with its built-in creative tools and AR and AI filters, which make it a popular choice for those who want to experiment with video but may not have editing knowledge.

With Create, video editing is everything, users can upload clips, split and trim videos, apply effects , and access royalty-free music to complement their videos. These copyright-safe songs will also sync the song's beats to the video clips, similar to TikTok.

Another popular tool, Audio Cleanup , leverages a noise removal model to reduce background and environmental noise and improve the audio quality of clips recorded on users' smartphones.

There is also a built-in voice annotation tool that includes automatic and editable captions, with various options to format the text.
When users finish their edits, they can publish directly to YouTube with a simple tap.

Offering a set of tools exclusively for YouTube creators, the company hopes to gain a larger share of the market that prefers to use standalone tools for video editing. For example, although TikTok has a large library of built‑in effects, many creators turn to ByteDance's other creative app, CapCut, to prepare their videos for TikTok. Create offers a similar pace for those who prefer publishing on YouTube instead of TikTok.
Starting today, the Create app is available in new markets , including Argentina , Australia , Brazil , Canada , Finland , Hong Kong , Ireland , the Netherlands , New Zealand , Spain , Taiwan , Thailand , and Turkey . It initially launched in the U.S. , Germany , France , the U.K. , India , Indonesia , South Korea , and Singapore .
