The Magic Compose feature announced at the Google I/O 2023 in May 2023 is starting its global rollout.

The app launched at the end of the month, but only in the United States and with limited features. It was “only available in English on Android with US SIM cards.”
Now, things are gradually changing and Magic Compose is gaining international availability, albeit slowly.
Essentially, Magic Compose automatically creates message texts with the help of artificial intelligence. The feature is activated by tapping a pencil icon with an asterisk in the text field, which invites you to try out different style options for your next reply, such as Remix, Excited, Chill, Shakespeare, Lyrical, Formal, or Short.
To help Magic Compose get to know you better and sound like you, the feature will send up to 20 previous messages to Google servers to generate relevant suggestions. This includes emojis, reactions, and URLs, but not messages with attachments, voice messages, or images. However, “ image captions and voice transcriptions may be sent .”

According to Google, your messages will not be stored or used to train machine learning models. After the suggestions are generated, “Google deletes the messages from its servers.” When you’re not using Magic Compose, “no messages to Google.”
Following eligible users in the United States, there are now reports from France and the United Kingdom that Magic Compose has arrived. You must be in the Play Store betas for Google Messages and Carrier Services, be signed in to account , and be over 18 to get Magic Compose. Google One Premium members also “have priority access as more seats become available.”
