WhatsApp is bringing “View Once” to voice messages as well, to prevent your conversation from being monitored.
It’s been more than two years since the imminent introduction of the “View Once” feature on WhatsApp, the globally popular service with over two billion users. The feature allows photos and videos to be automatically deleted after they’ve been viewed by the recipient. The feature is now being extended to voice messages.

Until now, voicemails remained permanently on the recipient's phone. They could be stored, forwarded, or shared elsewhere without the original sender even knowing.
This is no longer possible thanks to the feature . This feature ensures that the entire voice message is removed after the recording is played back. It’s like watching the beginning of a Mission Impossible movie every time you send a voice message to friends or family.
Admittedly, it's a bit odd that WhatsApp uses the same "View Once" name for audio messages, but it makes sense to maintain consistency across the messaging platform
“To help you share sensitive information more securely, WhatsApp has announced a new feature. Now you can transfer your credit card details to a friend or prepare a surprise via voice message. These voice notifications are clearly marked with the “View Once” icon and can only be played once, ensuring complete security.”
Whenever a photo, video, or voice memo is set to “View Once,” you’ll recognize it by the icon (a gray circle with a “1” in the center) that appears in messages. This way, you’ll always get alerts that you only have one chance to listen to the message before it disappears forever.

To send your own audio messages, simply tap the “1” icon to the right of the waveform while recording. If the message has already been sent, unfortunately you can’t change it.
As usual, the new WhatsApp feature will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks. Unlike the recent improvement in photo quality in WhatsApp, which is currently only available on iPhone, the self-destructing voice message feature will be available simultaneously for iOS and Android.
