WhatsApp is finally allowing users iPhone to share photos and videos through the platform, in their original quality.
According to WABetaInfo, the official changelog included in WhatsApp update 23.24.73 on the App Store says that users can now “easily send media in original quality, as a file.”

Essentially, the new feature comes after a recent WhatsApp update that allowed users to share media in high resolution or “HD quality.” While this addresses the issue of low quality when sharing media, it still involves compression.
WhatsApp's latest feature avoids compression altogether, allowing photos and videos to be shared as files, thus preserving their original quality. It is believed that this feature will be released "in the coming weeks", so some users may not see it on device .

How to send media in its original quality?
- Open an existing WhatsApp conversation or start a new one
- Tap the +, located to the left of the text entry field.
- Tap Document ➝ Select Photo or Video.
- Select the media you want to send, then confirm by tapping the blue arrow. You should know that there is a 2GB limit on files that can be sent using the feature.

When files are sent, media previews don't appear in the chat window, but the recipient can tap on the files to view them. WhatsApp is also testing the same feature for Android, though there's no further information on when it will be released.
