A recent report suggests that the latest beta of the Google Messages app has introduced a new Magic Compose button. Powered by AI , Magic Compose helps you craft replies based on the context of your messages, offering suggestions on how to start a conversation, reply, or even rewrite a draft in different tones.
In its current configuration, Magic Compose sits on the bottom row, nestled between the gallery and the text field. As you type, it slides out of view behind a chevron.

However, in the new beta, Magic Compose appears in the smart replies row, even when there are no suggestions. It appears as a pill-shaped message bubble, located on the far right.

The icon matches the Dynamic Color theme, just like the Send button. Once you start typing in the compose field, the icon changes to Magic Rewrite (a glowing pencil). However, there are no major visual changes to the feature.

The old layout, with three buttons squeezed into a row, felt cramped and often shrunk the text box, especially on smaller devices. So, by making this small change to the way Google Messages' Magic Compose feature appears, Google is making it more accessible and easier to use.
