OpenAI's chatbot, which is based on the company's AI language processing model, ChatGPT, went down due to a major outage that also affected the company's Application Programming Interface (API).

Customers affected by these ongoing issues are experiencing “ it looks like something went wrong ” errors , with ChatGPT adding “ An error occurred while generating a response ” to their questions.
“If this problem persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.“
In an report posted on the company's official status page, OpenAI confirmed that its engineering teams are investigating the issue. The issues being addressed today follow another outage on Tuesday, which also affected the API and ChatGPT, with outages lasting several hours.
On Monday, users of OpenAI’s Dall-E image creation API also experienced elevated levels of errors for most of the day. The ChatGPT chatbot also went down globally in May, when the service was inaccessible for several hours. Today’s outage follows an announcement on Monday where OpenAI said it was implementing improvements and new features to its API and ChatGPT service.

Starting this week, the company introduced a new, more affordable GPT-4 Turbo model with “a 128K environment and the latest insights from GPT-4,” available in preview for all developers. GPT-4 Turbo also adds visuals, DALL·E 3 performance, and text-to-speech capabilities for all developers, while the company also announced that it has doubled the speed limits of GPT-4.
In its latest update, OpenAI says it has restored the affected services.
