The Shazam app can now identify songs on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and more.
Apple today updated its music recognition app Shazam to be able to recognize and identify songs played on third-party apps, such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

According to Apple, users can open Shazam, tap the blue button, and then return to the app they were using to see what’s playing. The Shazam app activates the iPhone’s microphone to listen to the song, and it can listen while another app is in use. After a few seconds, the song will be recognized, and when you switch back to Shazam, the song name and information will be displayed.
It's easier to use the built-in song recognition feature in iPhone's Control Center to identify a song. With Song Recognition, you can open an app like YouTube, play a song, swipe up on Control Center, and tap the Song Recognition icon to identify what's playing.
Using this method doesn't require you to leave the YouTube app. Once a song is recognized, it will appear as a notification or on Dynamic Island - you can then tap on it in the Shazam app to get more information.
Identifying a song with Shazam adds it to a Shazam playlist in Apple Music, so you can listen to it in full later. For those who don't have Apple Music, the Shazam app also keeps a list of recent Shazams.
You can download Shazam for free from the App Store.
