Huawei Watch Ultimate: Features and when will it be released?

Huawei may not be very welcome in America, but that does not mean it will stop distributing its products for the rest of the world. Its latest creation is the Huawei Watch Ultimate, a super-premium wearable for extreme sports types who want to have a statement piece on their wrist. In the style of the Submariner or Seamaster, the Ultimate has a rotating crown and two buttons, one upper left and one lower right. It is available in two colors, black and blue, the cases are coated with an innovative liquid metal material based on zirconium, which resembles the alloy found in many of Omega's modern watches.

Depending on which watch face you choose, you'll also get the corresponding straps of your choice. Choosing the more premium blue will get you a titanium alloy strap. Choosing the black will get you both the standard rubber strap and a longer one for scuba diving. For this reason, Huawei is promoting that the Watch Ultimate will last up to 24 hours at a depth of 110 meters. It also added a number of extra software features for technical divers, but it's not sure how many professional divers would swap their mechanical watch for a digital alternative.

Inside the case is a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 466 x 466 resolution and a max brightness of 1000 nits under a 2.3mm sapphire crystal. It has software with almost the same features as the Watch GT series with the only difference being that the Chinese models have an exclusive Golf mode along with the aforementioned diving features.

One more feature is the battery life with Huawei promising that the battery will last up to 14 days without charging, with light use. However more realistically, for normal use we would say it will last around 8 days. Although the company did not say how long the battery will last if you run with GPS enabled, we imagine that the 530mAh will last for a marathon.

In terms of applications and features, with the Strava and Runtastic apps there are the classic tracking features. There is a new Expedition function that utilizes dual-band GPS to ensure that exactly where you are and how far you are from your trail is known.

As for the price, Huawei will not announce it until April 2, i.e., a day before it launches in Europe and the United Kingdom.
