At its Stream On event on Wednesday, Spotify unveiled a brand new interface with images and music video clips to give users an experience similar to popular apps like TikTok or Instagram. Instead of the same old album list we're used to seeing, this innovative update will offer more personalized music recommendations based on what you like to listen to.

Spotify CEO and founder Daniel Ek told CBS that the updates include a “completely new” home feed, adding that it’s “redesigned from the ground up.” He continued, “You’re going to see Spotify, I think, come alive. You’re going to see a lot more interactive content.”
The streaming platform will feature eye-catching album art at the top of its feed, with auto-playing podcasts or music videos appearing just below. To jump to a specific video/podcast experience, all you need to do is select one of the featured options – leading to an entire page specifically tailored for that selection!

A Spotify press release called the new interface "one of the biggest developments" to come to the app since its launch and is "built for deeper discovery and more meaningful connections between artists and fans."
Starting today, Spotify’s more than 500 million active users will experience music, podcasts and audiobook previews, as well as personalized AI DJs and custom playlists with the new development. Revamped discovery feeds make it easier to click directly on songs, albums or artist profiles, while Smart Shuffle creates personalized audio experiences like never before!

These updates are also intended to support artists, and a new feature called Spotify for Artists will provide a place where artists can showcase themselves and be seen by users who like similar genres of music.

“Today, there are more than 10 million creators on Spotify, with over half a billion listeners across 184 countries and markets,” Ek said in the press release. “Think about the enormous potential that represents for creators. No matter where you are on your own creative journey with music, podcasts or audiobooks.”
