Android 13: Introduces Chromecast support for Output Switcher

Android 11's original Output Switcher feature allowed users to quickly switch between devices connected to their phone, like Bluetooth speakers and wireless headphones. But Android 13 takes things a step further by including Google Chromecast in the mix!

It is alleged that a Pixel 7 device running the secure Android 13 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release) build – an official update with multiple bug fixes, improvements, and optimizations – started detecting a Chromecast device among other relevant devices for streaming from YouTube Music.

If you're not familiar with Chromecast, it's an advanced device that plugs into your TV via the HDMI port and allows you to stream content from a computer or smartphone directly to the big screen. Some TVs even have Chromecast capabilities built in, so having the ability to output directly to your TV will make a big difference!

In the future, you'll be able to switch your playback from a wide variety of devices with ease. This includes headphones, portable speakers , and more!

Now, the key word here is support. So far, only one smartphone has shown the ability to detect Chromecast devices, and that was only while using YouTube Music.

This means that this feature will soon be available on all platforms, but it should be accompanied by a comprehensive range of application support.

It's worth noting that the QPR1 update is currently only available on Google phones, such as the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. However, it will eventually roll out to other Android devices.

We look forward to the day when all Android phones get the Output Switcher option to cast content to Chromecast. Furthermore, we hope that numerous streaming apps will become compatible with this powerful tool as time goes on.

Output Switcher is designed to be simple and easy to use, so no technical knowledge is required to use it. When you launch the application, it will automatically detect all compatible audio/video outputs connected to your device. You can then choose which output you want the media from your device to be sent to.
