Microsoft is now promoting some of products in the pop-up options menu that appears when you click the user icon in the Windows 11 start menu.

The Start menu is one of the most important features of the Windows operating system. It's the first thing you see when you turn on computer , and it's where you go to find all apps and programs. In short, it's your gateway to everything on your computer.
Windows enthusiast Albacore discovered Windows 11's new "feature" for ad notifications in the Accounts Flyout and shared several screenshots.
The screenshots show that Microsoft suggests its users create or use a Microsoft account to use the OneDrive.
People who saw this on social media were not happy with the company's decision to display ads in the start menu.

Some said that with each update, Windows 11 is “getting worse,” while others added that it’s an odd choice, given that most of the Start menu is for recommendations.
Microsoft appears to be conducting a test for now to see if customers react positively to this new “feature.” The company is only pushing these ads to a limited number of users
This is not the first time the company has placed ads in the user interface of Microsoft Office and other Windows applications.
The company advertised Microsoft 365 family subscriptions to Office 2021 customers in August, with a three-month subscription of the family plan discounted by more than $28.
Some Microsoft products, including Microsoft Editor, have been showing ads in the File Explorer since March for Windows Insiders.

In 2016, File Explorer also received promotional messages from the company when it was used to display OneDrive ads.
Some of these ad tests also had negative effects: While testing Microsoft Teams on Windows Insider builds, Microsoft inadvertently “broken” the Windows Start menu and taskbar.
