Microsoft has released an out- of -band update (KB5020953) to address a known issue that causes OneDrive and OneDrive for Business to crash after installing recent Windows 10 updates .
Microsoft OneDrive is a storage that lets you store and share files online. It makes it easy to store and access your files from any device.

The issue occurs when users try to disconnect their OneDrive accounts or sites and folders from Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
According to a Microsoft announcement, “OneDrive may quit unexpectedly after installing KB5018410 or later updates.”
Users affected by this issue may experience errors when trying to:
- They sign out or unlink their account in the Microsoft OneDrive sync app.
- Stop syncing a site or folder from Microsoft SharePoint or Microsoft Teams.
- Uninstall the OneDrive sync app.
Microsoft released the out-of-band update on October 28, 2022 for some versions of Windows.
You don't need to install these updates unless you're experiencing crashes and unexpected closings of Microsoft OneDrive.

The update requires manual installation
The issue was fixed with hotfix KB5020953, which is not delivered through Windows Update and is not installed automatically.
Microsoft said when announcing the new update: “Addresses an issue that causes Microsoft OneDrive to stop working. This happens after you disconnect your device, stop syncing, or sign out of account your.”
Users can apply this updateby downloading it from the Microsoft Update Catalog and installing it manually.

The update is available for Windows 10 versions 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and 22H2. After installing KB5020953, the build numbers change to 19042.2194, 19043.2194, and 19044.2194.
Enterprise administrators can import the software into Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
