The well-known automobile manufacturer Ferrari, which in addition to its famous F1 racing vehicles also offers road cars to the public, is currently in the process of recalling almost every single-seater it has sold since 2005.

The problem is the brake fluid reservoir cap. It is designed to relieve pressure if necessary, but apparently this design is not that good. The vent can fail, causing a vacuum to build up, resulting in a possible leak . And if you don't have brake fluid in your brake reservoirs, you won't be able to slow down or stop without hitting something big and solid!

So the fix is pretty simple, a new brake fluid reservoir cap and a software patch that lets the driver know if their brake fluid reservoir is low. In such a case, Ferrari says to stop the car and have it towed.

The company believes that only about 1% of the cars are affected, but prudence dictates replacing them all. That's about 23,555 cars in the U.S., starting with the 612 Scagliettis built in early 2004. In fact, the only models that will be exempt will be the 575M Maranello, the 599 GTB, the SF90, and the new 296 hybrid.
Owners should be notified by the end of September by Ferrari about when they should bring their cars in for repair.
