
More and more tech companies have announced in recent hours that they will not have a physical presence at CES 2022. Intel and Google announced their decisions on Thursday afternoon. However, despite the continued cancellations from companies, advertisers and tech media organizations, the Consumer Technology Association, which organizes CES 2022, says it will proceed with its schedule as normal with events and presentations that will allow for physical attendance.

In a Twitter thread posted Thursday night, the @CES account said the goal is to bring together people and companies from the tech industry. However, organizers say those who can't make it to the event will be able to experience the magic of CES digitally.

The tech companies that said they would not be physically present at CES justified their decision by citing health concerns and the unknown effects of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron. On the other hand, CES organizers had stated early on that various measures would be observed for the safety of attendees: distances, the use of masks, free rapid tests and the display of a vaccination certificate.

On Wednesday, the CTA said it had been notified of 42 cancellations. Some of the biggest companies that appear to be in-person at CES 2022 (based on current data) include Samsung, Sony , and LG.
