WhatsApp is no longer supported on some smartphones starting today. The November 1st deadline has arrived and the popular messaging app WhatsApp is no longer supported on some iPhones and Android phones.

More than 50 different smartphone models will no longer be able to support WhatsApp.
Users were given until November 1st to upgrade their phones.
Android users will need to be running Android 4.1 or later to use WhatsApp, while iPhone users will need to be running iOS 10 or later.
As for Android, WhatsApp's announcement above regarding supported versions means that many popular phones will lose access to the messaging app (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S3 and Huawei Ascend Mate).

iPhone 4 and older models will also have the same fate.
Additionally, if you've never updated your iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, or iPhone SE (2016), you'll also lose access until you update them. That's because they shipped with iOS 9.
However, you can update all three models to iOS 15, the latest version of Apple's operating system, to maintain access to WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is dead: Why is support for certain Android smartphones and iPhones ending?
It's common for tech companies to stop supporting older devices.
Google , did exactly the same with old Android phones for and Google Maps.
Sometimes this is because it is not cost-effective to continue running apps on very old versions of iOS or Android. This is especially true in cases where only a small percentage of users are running these old software versions.

Either way, the end of WhatsApp support for iPhones and Android smartphones listed below could be a good opportunity to upgrade your phone. Using old software can be a huge security risk. Therefore, it is important to get all the new updates or change devices when the operating system can no longer be updated.
