Starting with the release of iOS 14 in 2020, Apple finally did one of the things it should have done years ago: give users the ability to change their default web browsers and default email apps.
Whether you like Gmail, ProtonMail , or Outlook, you can tell your iPhone to route all email-related activity directly to the corresponding mobile app.

That's good in itself, but what's even better is how easy it is to do.
- First, you'll need to make sure you have iOS 14 or later and that the app you want to use is properly installed on your device.
- Go to Settings and scroll down the alphabetical list to see every app on your iPhone.
- Tap the email app you want to set as the default app.
- You should then see a “Default mail app” in the next menu.
- Tap on it and then select the app you want to be the default email app.

That's it. Whenever you do anything email-related on your iPhone, it will automatically be transferred to this app instead of the default Mail app.
