Apple is hiring engineers to work on next-generation 6G wireless technology, according to job postings spotted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
The listings are for jobs at Apple's offices in Silicon Valley and San Diego, where the company works on wireless technology development and chip design, according to Gurman's report.
“You will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to create next-generation wireless technology that will have a profound impact on future products ,” the job posting says. “In this role, you will be at the center of a research team responsible for creating new next-generation radio access technologies over the next decade.”
People hired for the positions will “research and design next-generation (6G) wireless communication systems for radio access” and “participate in industry/academic forums passionate about 6G technology.”
Apple only adopted 5G connectivity in iPhones last year, and 6G isn't expected to launch until 2030, but Jobs' posts show that Apple is willing to participate in the early stages of development .
